District Swearing-In Ceremonies

Happy New Year! As we ring in the New Year, let us remember how lucky we are to be able to spend time with family and friends, and let us remember to show the generosity and good feeling of this wonderful season throughout the whole year. I would like to say a special thank you to our military members and their families for their commitment, dedication, and unwavering support of our country. We get a chance to celebrate our freedoms in peace because of what they’re doing every single day.

It is with great pleasure that I cordially invite you to join me at one of my ceremonies / receptions as I take the oath of office for a third term to the North Carolina State Senate. State government is where the rubber meets the road – where we make critical decisions about the future of our public schools, our tax system, our infrastructure, and our economy. We need to continue to reform state government, continue investing in education and our teachers to ensure our students gain the skills they need to succeed in life. Also, reducing the tax burden of our citizens is a priority.

Due to the large geography area of the First Senatorial District, I will be participating in three ceremonies throughout Eastern North Carolina. Please see below for information on the three ceremonies.

In conjunction with Representative-elect Beverly Boswell (R-District 6) the first ceremony will take place at the Dare County Courthouse: (962 Marshall Collins Drive, Manteo, NC 27954), Thursday, January 5, at 5:30 p.m. The oath of office will be administered by the Honorable Jerry R. Tillett, Senior Resident Superior Court Judge.  A reception will follow at the conclusion of the ceremony at 108 Budleigh: (108 Budleigh Street, Manteo, NC 27954). Please see invitation below.

Representative Bob Steinburg (R-District 1) will join me for the second ceremony that will take place at the Pasquotank County Courthouse: (206 East Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909), Friday, January 6, at 5:30 p.m. The oath of office will be administered by the Honorable Jerry R. Tillett, Senior Resident Superior Court Judge. A reception will follow at the conclusion of the ceremony at the Culpepper Inn: (609 West Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909). Please see invitation below.

The final ceremony will include Representative Michael Speciale (R-District 3), Representative-elect Beverly Boswell (R-District 6) and me. It will take place at the Beaufort County Courthouse: (112 West 2nd Street, Washington, NC 27889), Saturday, January 7, at 5:30 p.m. The oath of office will be administered by the Honorable Jeffery B. Foster, Superior Court Judge. A reception will follow at the conclusion of the ceremony at On The Waterfront Restaurant: (1 Harding Square, Washington, NC 27889). Please see invitation below.
